Color Inspiration Challenge #15

I love these challenges to at least get me started. This is another of the KWernerDesign Challenges and it came together real quick, like in about 5 minutes! The inspiration picture is shown above. I inked up the tree in Really Rust and then used markers directly on the rubber before stamping to add some other colors to it. I really wanted to add some olive to the grass but was trying to stick right to the colors! ;) Do you think this set (Lovely as a Tree) will ever retire?

Color Inspiration Challenge

I needed to get stamping after returning from vacation a few days ago, but things have been a little crazy to say the least. I decided to just take some time tonight no matter what and do nothing but stamp! KWernerDesign is having another fun color challenge (as seen in the above picture) that I thought would get me jump started. I didn't think I could pull the colors she chose together, but I like the result!

I love cowboys.....always have! I swore I'd marry one. It was on my mental list of "musts"! But then the right one came along.......ya know how it is......and that all went down the tube! I got him to listen to country music, he even wears boots once in a while and enjoys going to my family's ranch and doing that sort of thing, but I wouldn't say he is at the cowboy stage or ever will be. He is pretty much perfect for me though, and I sure am lucky!!!

We had a fun trip to Utah and it was great for the kids to see all of their cousins for all of us to get to socialize with family again. We really miss getting to spend time with them. My mom planned a big family dinner for both of our families the night before we left.......YES we all get along that well! It was really nice. I think Brandon had the hardest time leaving this time around. He really had fun taking care of the younger cousins and getting to play with so many that were close to his age. Until next year.......

Inspiration Challenge

Beate has an Inspiration Challenge going on right now (you can try it too!). She chose this pillow for the Inspiration piece.

I've been wanting to play with this new set that I chose for one of Stampin' Up!'s demonstrator promotions. It is called Together Forever. I really like the wheel that coordinates with it too, however I didn't work it into this card. I just used White Craft Ink for the flowers and greeting. I tried embossing with white embossing powder, but that was a mess! I had white powder everywhere! I liked how bright it turned out though. This is a little dull, kind of gray looking, but it looks much crisper that my embossed mess did!

This card measures 4 1/2" x 11" and opens sideways. I used the white taffeta ribbon for the bow. I like to use the Horizontal Slot Punch for my ribbon. I slide it on the fold about half way and punch it out, then the ribbon slides through nicely and the card still opens like it should.

Since this is a very dark card, you can write inside with the white gel pen or for this particular card, I just cut a piece of Whisper White card stock 3 3/4" x 5" and attached to the inside. I stamped the same flower in black on the inside corner. I always stamp something on the inside corner that will coordinate with what I've done on the outside.

Beate's WSC #49

What does that title mean? Well, Beate has a weekend "sketch" challenge (WCS) that anyone can participate in. I've never done it before now, but I always enjoy looking at them. A sketch is a different layout for how to arrange your card. It is fun to see how everyone interprets it.

I know the boys are going to be needing some graduation cards coming up soon. Our school colors are purple and gold, but I decided to go with eggplant and saffron! This one will do for the girls, but I'll have to come up with something different for the guys, or just switch out the Designer Paper for something un-flowery.

This is a cute set is called Great Grads and is found on page 55 of the catalog. The word "graduate" around the big G doesn't show up on the scan, since I stamped it in the saffron color. I used the Stamp-a-ma-jig to line up the background stamp along the bottom several times so it would match perfectly. The Stamp-a-ma-jig CAN be your friend! I don't know what I'd do without mine.

KWerner Design Color Inspiration Challenge #7

I've been wanting to try these Color Inspiration Challenges on Kristina Werner's Blog for quite some time. This if my first attempt, since this is the first time I've had anywhere to put the card! The colors she chose this week are shown above the card: Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa, Soft Sky and Very Vanilla. I wanted to use Chipboard, since it is 25% off with a $35 purchase of Stampin' Up! products during May. You can also get a free Hobby Blade with the purchase of the Cutting Mat. These three items work together wonderfully!
